You’ve always wondered if you could reuse those cheapie Atlas switch machines. I say go right ahead. Here is a technique to place them under the table and out of the way.
Step 1: Get an Atlas under the table switch machine
Step 2: Cut off the bar that is supposed to connect to the turnout
Step 3: Drill a small hole in the delrin you just cut
Step 4: Push a small brass rod up through the foam.
Step 5: Push a small steel music wire through the brass rod and bend the wire at 90 degree angle at the end. Then make a small bend at the very end of the wire (to connect to the switch machine).
Step 6: Connect it all together
